It sounds a lot better if you start at track 3, although the for us or against us lyrics do make me a bit uncomfortable.
Empire Burlesque sounds exactly as you'd expect it to from the cover. Awful stuff. I work in a record store and strangely this is one of our better selling eighties Dylan albums. Knocked Out Loaded is not all that bad as long as you have low expectations. The production is still dated but not as badly as Burlesque.
I'll look at the nineties and noughties soon.Active Listenerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08732844209597964962noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6060678401939895415.post-49103425003287824252011-12-24T05:35:06.501-08:002011-12-24T05:35:06.501-08:00I don't mind Saved, mainly for the wonderful &...I don't mind Saved, mainly for the wonderful 'Pressing On,' a song I fell in love with through John Doe's cover on the "I'm Not There" soundtrack. My bugbear is with Empire Burlesque - I can barely get past the cover & I've yet to make a decent effort with Knocked Out Loaded. One of these days I'll play it on high rotate for a week or two & see how it fares. "Born In Time" - great song, agree, and there are some wonderful Oh Mercy-out-take versions of this on the Telltale Signs boxset.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
